Marine Survey - Consultation - Appraisals

It is in my capacity and experience as a lifetime Career Professional Marine Mechanic, shipyard owner and now full time Marine Surveyor for the last 20 yrs -- that the survey format I offer, will naturally feature a heavy focus and emphasis on  fixed and rotating machinery, both Gas and Diesel
Standard ignition and electronic fuel injection gas engines are checked and verified for full cylinder condition and performance even before sea trials begin,  Computer module code readouts ,where applicable, are also monitored as with everything else during sea trials.
Diesel engines are also given a standard range of test procedures both before and during sea trials including -- Where applicable, turbos and  intercooled component temperature transfers,  independent tachometer readings,  exhaust temperature readings and smoke analysis.

During sea trials , both gas and diesel engines are operated thru out the entire factory specified  RPM range up to and Including wide open throttle.   Cooling system performance is also monitored, along with voltage outputs and drive train noise / temperature and vibration anomalies.  Helm readings are continuously monitored for gauge deviations from the surveyors own digital equipment.

Auxiliary Gen Set operation is also carefully monitored including volt / amperage outputs, and governor performance  during load and no load conditions
All engine support systems such as wiring and fuel  tank(s).,  including supply and return lines /  fuel filters, Cooling and exhaust  systems are carefully examined, listed and reported on,  as a standard part of the survey.

The type of engine and machinery / sea trial survey  that I conduct has been designed to give the buyer the fullest possible understanding of what the engine room is all about, as nothing is left un-inspected, or untested.
